Portal Wisconsin

This was the first website I had visited, and it was not what I was expecting. Originally, I thought all the site were resources for inspiration, which this website did prove, however it also listed opportunities for an artist to participate in. Local contests, classes, there was even a section dedicated for people looking for an artist to do some work for them. Personally, I would be highly interested in taking some time off work to do so. Even if I would not be paid for the work, it would be an opportunity to work outside of a comfort zone to produce a product for a client, giving you a real world situation. One thing I learned for the site was that there are actually many potential events for artists in the area, something I thought southeastern Wisconsin lacked. The site also provide virtual tours of local areas, for example Madeline Island Cemetery. While this is not something I have right away learned from the site, it will be a resource for me to learn from. Being able to use the virtual tours as a tour when I'm feeling a some sunny day inspiration and it's raining outside. Lastly, I learned that there is an art would in Wisconsin, while it's more directed toward the Madison Area, it seems that there a community larger than I had expected of artists in Wisconsin. I would love to become part of this. While I do not plan to pursuit art in college, I know I will keep it as a life-long hobby.

I really enjoy this piece because it reminds me of flowers. I love to sculpt nature, and I enjoy the style this artist used. It's free and flow-y, and it's made of metal; something I would like to test around with some day.

This piece is different. It provides something to think about, to try and figure out how the piece came to be. This, to me, screams war or fighting.

Arts Board

I'm not sure how this website will benefit myself. After playing around on it, it seems that it's just a website dedicated to provide information on scholarships and grants to art students. While this could be very helpful to someone planning to pursuit art in college, it's not for me. The site believes in combining art with community too, fully promoting a new cultural experience. From this site I've became more aware of the any opportunities an art student has. This site would be a great resource for those who plan on going to an arts school, for this site provides information to help apply for grants. Overall that's really it, as I tried to access different tools on the side bar, I was taken to different websites or pages that would never load. Very confusing.

Scholastic

First things first... Wow.
This site shows off the works of other young artists, not just in applied art but also through  written poems, memoirs, and short stories. While you can look at the work present for inspiration, a student could also submit their own pieces onto the scholastic website. First, I learned that the Scholastic Art and Writing awards have been around for 90 years! And this class is the first I have ever heard about the board. Second, if you submit a piece you are also submitting you work for a chance to be critiqued by world famous artists. This would be the ultimate confidence booster, or it could prove great feedback that would allow an artist to grow. Lastly, through submitting your work you could win scholarships.

This first piece isn't a work of art, but it's a beautiful poem. I love to read and I couldn't help but take a peek at some of the written works in the gallery. This poem stuck out to me. It's about Vincent, a character who self harms. The narrator's voice seems soft, like it's trying to calm Vincent but inevitably fails.

This piece doesn't speak to me like the one before it, but instead intrigues me. I really enjoy the odd colors used on the sculpture (The colors remind me of zombies!). Even with the different colors, the artist was able to shade using the red color, making the piece look even more realistic.

For a museum website I looked at the Milwaukee art museum. On the site, it does not seem that you could submit works of you own for an exhibit. However, the website provides art alliances, or groups of people similar to yourself to enjoy and support art together.

What a summer, so far.

My summer has been literally non-stop working. Currently, at my job, I'm being trained to become a manager. Big deal, right? Manager of a fast food joint? I "love" where my future is taking me.
June could not have gone by any faster. It seemed like One moment I was out of school, then suddenly it was the first day of summer fest (which sadly, I could not attend. :/), then Fourth of July!

All in All, I'm taking time to do summer homework late at night. Work until 11, stay up drawing, writing, or studying until 2 or 3, then sleep till 9. It's working out for me so far.

The first photograph was taken because the sky reminded me of Angels. It was just after a storm, so seeing the blue sky peek out and the clouds clear up was like seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I hate thunder and lightning, so seeing the sky look so angelic after such a violent storm made me feel at peace.

The second one is homage to my addiction to fireworks. I love them, It's officially July ninth and I can honnestly admit that I have lit off fireworks every night since the fourth.
